ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Valerie likes to paint subjects that are not normally associated with fine art, such as a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer. To Valerie, these paintings take a moment of our, lives telling a story that we can all relate to. The coffee and magazine on the table suggesting an interrupted break; a glass of beer just poured before the game begins. These same themes can also be seen in her abstracts. She will often abstract these same everyday objects, suggesting a chaoticness that is often present in our lives.
Valerie is a member of the Markham Group of Artists and in 2007 was elected a signature member of the Pastel Artists of Canada. Her paintings have been selected for many juried shows and have won several awards, including Best of Show.
