Don Wise was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1946.  He became drawing cars as a teenager and sent his designs to Chrysler Canada for their consideration.  They sent back a contract and this encouraged him to continue drawing and designing.  A grade age teacher, Mr. Kippen, recognized Don's talent and encouraged him to practice and hone his skills.

Don began oil painting in his twenties and experimenting with different subject areas.  He loves capturing life as it was in his youth and placing favourite automobiles in these images of time.  But sometimes it is a landscape that captures his attention and at other instances the sighting of a bird or wildlife will provide his inspiration.

In 2001 Don's painting, The Auction won the Award of Merit in the Art of the Automobile competition of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada in Toronto.

Don's art resides in personal collections throughout Canada. Retired from Tweed Steel, Don now paints prolifically from his home studio near Flinton, Ontario.
